Hyundai India Domestic Sales Surge PDF Print
Monday, 02 November 2009 13:47
The domestic sales are 41% up YOY, exports are down because the EU nations Cash for Clunkers scheme is over, which is what was promoting the sales of small cars by Hyundai and Suzuki. The primary export vehicles are the i10, i20 and the Santro. Maruti exports could also be down since the A-Star also known as the Alto in EU is the primary car to be exported though it has not really done well in terms of domestic sales because of the cramped interiors. Indians need practicality since this could be the only car they would drive where as in EUm, these cars are second or third cars primarily used as city run abouts.

This might be the turning point the Indian automotive industry has been waiting for”. The segment-wise cumulative sales in the month of October, 2009 are as follows: A2 Segment (Santro, i10, Getz & i20) 47,407 units; A3 Segment (Accent & Verna) 4,285 units; A5 Segment (Sonata Transform) 44 units; and SUV Segment (Tucson) 0 unit.
