New VW Polo GTI, Of Course Not For India.

Postby abhi1309 » Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:19 pm

VW recently showed off the Polo GTI which is the GTI version of the exact car that VW will start selling in March for 4 lacs. Okay here is the deal on this hot hatch. It is powered by a not so little 1.4 Litre petrol engine and it is twin-charged. Yes you heard it right. So the power output is a tremendous 180BHP which is more than the biggest cars in our country in such a small package, and it makes most of it down at just 2000rpm. It does a ton at just 6.9 secs which is unbelievable. Sadly it will never come to India, not even as a limited edition unless VW goes crazy. But even if it does, it will cost upwards of 15 lacs and will look exactly like the 4 lac Polo that the middle class will buy. Who will buy it then, 2 or 3 people in this country. So yes another reason, why it will never come to India.

Polo GTIs also receive a new front fascia, including a new honeycomb grille patterned after that on the larger Golf GTI. Headlamps are also revised, but buyers can opt for some spiffy LED running lights. Fenders are bulged ever so slightly, and help wrap the car’s sides to a revised rear fascia, which now sports a modest diffuser and dual chromed exhaust tips. A set of 17-inch aluminum wheels, cribbed from the Golf GTI, helps complete the hot-hatch look. Inside, the new Polo GTI receives a flat-bottomed steering wheel, black trim and headliner, aluminum pedals, and new, heavily bolstered sport seats.

The Polo GTI will go on sale in Europe by the end of this year, and will likely be substantially more expensive than a base Polo hatchback that we will get here. Enjoy the pictures. That's all you get for being born here.
