Yeah get over that Indicruz/Aria launch excitement already. Rumor has it the the new Tata Safari that has been under development for a while now will sport a 1.8 Diesel engine. Will this be a FIAT multijet? I believe so because when a Vista can have FIAT powertrain, why not the Safari. The new Safari is not completely a new car but a facelift and is also expected to have extensive changes in mechanicals. Expect stiffer suspension setup and also better fit and finish. The car will of course make it to India and I doubt it will be called an Aveo here because the name is battered to the core with people rubbishing the lightest mention of this car, sedan or the hatchback. It's Official, Ford Fusion Discontinued! PDF Print E-mail

It is official now, the little front wheel drive crossover from Ford has been finally discontinued. The vehicle has been removed from the Ford India website as well. The car had been selling in very low numbers since it was launched and that kind of form factor was never taken well by the indian customer. I mean vehicles like this just never clicked, not did station wagons like the Indigo Marina or the Baleno Altura for that matter.

We just want hatchbacks or sedans. Well, Ford first put the Fiesta's diesel into it to give it some more appeal with one more variant the Fusion Plus available on both Petrol and Diesel. It did not click. Then came the Fabia from Skoda and suddenly the expensive Ford Fusion felt like awesome value for money. Don't you know there are blokes who bought Fabia diesels at 9 lacs OTR. They must be one hell of a sad tribe for sure. So yes, Ford again started advertising the Fusion as the 'no nonsense car' and all that. It still did not sell. The vehicle was amazing with great luggage space and excellent quality and engines powering it.

One cannot imagine the amount of money Maruti took home this month. They sold 95649 cars across all segments they operate in and they are just expanding in the UV market which has been Mahindra's bastion till now.

The best and the worst performers in Indian car market

According to a poll by probably TOI, here is the list of the 6 best performing cars in terms of sales of course. The reasons for them to be the best performers can be many, but they sure fly off the showroom shelves really fast. According to the report, the indian car market churns about 400 different models and variants from 20 manufacturers.
